Movie Review - Don't be Afraid of the Dark

Like I said, movie review is not my thing.

BUT, since I got SIX tickets to the premier of "Don't be Afraid of the Dark" I feel guilty if I do not say my thanks to all those who made possible.

Me n my 'date' for the night. hehe~
Wondering how I got it? Well, like Tony Teh said, "It's because she didn't join". Lols. Thanks for the movie Nuffnang, Churp2, and most importantly Tony Teh, Benjamin Foo and Yeongboon Ooi for making it possible.

Rated: 18
Genre: Horror
Running Time: 1 Hour 38 Minutes
Director: Troy Nixey
Cast: Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison
Synopsis: "A young girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own " (UNITED INTERNATIONAL PICTURES).

Verdict: I don't especially hate it, but I don't especially think it's great either. It does give me a tingling feeling of annoyance. The very stubborn and too brave kid, the stubborn and all business dad and the misunderstood soon to be step-mom.
The misunderstood soon to be step-mom
What I like: The cinematography was awesome. I loved the mansion and how eerie it looked (I always thought mansions are a scary place to live - especially if it's only three people). I loved the Garden (really reminds me off "Pan's labyrinth". I loved the tid bit gory sight they injected (broken bones, teeth and heavily injured heavy man). I loved the architecture of the house and the drawings they have inside the house. The sound effect was great as well.
The Mansion
What I dislike: The ending was unsatisfactory, the story line was bleergh, and truthfully, I didn't feel scared at all. Surprised, yes. but it only managed to jolt me up a bit. I heard no sound coming from the audience - which is a very bad thing if you are watching a horror movie. Girls should squeal and scream. But none of those. The hall was quite tranquil, I almost thought it was my room. In other words, it totally failed to deliver it's objective.

But if you want to let your kids watch this movie to teach them not to be naughty, I guess you can. This will definitely scare me out of my wits if I was an 8 year old. But I think, the cinema won't let you bring your kids in though~ ahaha~

The annoyingly stubborn and troubled kid.
Other notes: Heard the whispering creatures? Yeap, my date for the night was giggling throughout the movie. Instead of adding a sense of thrill, apparently it become funny. I had been tired this few days, so I was actually debating if I should sleep or not during the movie. and I did snooze off a few times - until I was snapped back to the movie due to the sound effect. lols. So, go figure. haha

Rating: 2/5

Just reviewing whatever brat style,
