BERSIH, if only you are really CLEAN~~

Yup, another controversial post by the brat, I know, a lot of Bersih supporters will be pissed with my post but I just couldn't keep my thoughts to myself. It felt wrong~~ lols.

I absolutely agree with BERSIH's demand. There should be a better, secure and clean way to how the elections are being held. And ofcourse, dirty politics and corruption shouldn't ever exist. These are the summary of their 8 demands

1. Clean the electoral roll
2. Reform postal ballot
3. Use of indelible ink
4. Minimum 21 days campaign period
5. Free and fair access to media
6. Strengthen public institutions
7. Stop corruption
8. Stop dirty politics

However, so far, this is the only point where I saw Bersih as clean. There are too many other factors that made me doubt this rally. This includes my last post. HERE. Stop corruption and dirty politics? Oh please, my mind is shouting corruption and dirty politics all over this rally. The people are not wrong. In fact, I am confident that they are only fighting for what they believe is their right. But the ones who control this rally is the one I have doubts with (especially ALL politicians involved no matter which party they are from).

So today I saw a few videos posted by one of my blogger friend on his facebook. Let me share it with you guys, and I'll go about what I think about it. Take note, I have no problem with this blogger friend of mine. We're cool. And I am not trying to prove anyone right or wrong. I am a blogger, a brat at that. I am merely stating my opinion.

'm sorry that I couldn't understand this. I just don't see the point. Never has, perhaps never will. It just feel like such a waste of time, energy and effort. I mean, why would you spend your Saturday shouting things that perhaps yourself don't understand? I'd rather stay at home with my family. I barely get to meet them on weekdays.Well, I guess to each a different perspective.

By the way, did you noticed the chants? I thought this was supposed to be a rally to demand better election system? Why did it become a hidup PKR and reformasi thing? That seems to deviate away from the supposedly purpose of Bersih right? Am I wrong or isn't this a propaganda on the opposition side? This is the very reason why I doubted the Bersih rally. I mean, if you want a better, clean, election, then that is what you should be shouting. What is this nonsense then??? Aren't you just being used here? They claimed that BERSIH 2.0, a coalition of like minded civil society organisations unaffiliated to any political party, http://bersih.org/?page_id=352 then why the mention of any political party at all???

So a person replied,
doesn't matter what they all chanting about right?..when you do/ did something, you must see the effect of that thing, baru2 nie itu projek MRT sudah naik, faham ker?..it doesn't matter who rule this Msia, as long as the opposition is strong, the Gohmen at least scare to pijak the rakyat, go and google what Taib Mahmood has done to Srawak, do you want the whole Msia to be like that?

Dear Okoshiboshi,
I agree that strong opposition makes the Government better since it make them more careful of their conduct. At least, they know that the people will NEVER stand by them if they abuse their power and they have other seemingly better choice then the current one.  However, the chants DOES matter. chants are a part of propaganda tool. and propaganda is damn annoying. It's like the classical learning theory. people associate one thing with another thing that was actually caused by something else. By purpose or accidental, ppl will start associating the chants they hear and say with the distorted intention/truth For example, while hearing that some party is better than the other, they saw that there are aggression by the local authorities. Without knowing what exactly had happened, people will jump into conclusion. And the conclusion might proven to be the absolute opposite from the truth. On the note of Sarawak, I'll get back to u when I know more about what happened.

Another person said,
well, from what i know, it WAS supposedly a rally to demand a better election system. But the government (i guess) tried to stop it by claiming that it's illegal and requesting the polices to control the situation. I guess the police abuses their power and start to arrest people without thinking (eg, ppl wearing yellow without any intention of supporting bersih). things went messy and now a riot is going to happen.. Kind of a backfire to the government..

Dear SiVL92,
exactly. The government has taken the absolutely wrong measures. They should fire their strategist and find a new better, and perhaps younger one. Seriously, by proclaiming the rally as illegal, they are making people more excited to go. If they had just ignored it, it wouldn't have been such a mess.
On the police note, we don't see or know the whole truth. Is it really without reason? or do you assume it is without reason? I agree that sometimes (or more) police does things that is unwarranted for.  But they are doing their job. They live and feed their family by following orders. If they don't follow orders, and they don't have the job, or something bad happened to them because they do not follow orders, do you want to take care of their family for them? Their work is already twice as hard and twice as dangerous than other people's job, why make it even more difficult when you don't have to? This rally do make things harder for them. I dunno how much, but one thing for sure, I'd be pretty pissed off if I have to work extra hard on a day I should be spending time with my family or for myself.

This another video posted to show police violence

First of all, do they even have proof that the one assaulting the other person is a plain-cloth police? I'm surprised at how easily people make assumptions. Yes, I saw that the assaulter had not been apprehended by the police, but there could be numerous reason for that. It does not necessarily mean that they are plain-cloth police right? Or maybe if he is. Why aren't there anyone from the crowd try to help the person getting beaten? Are they not human???

While I was debating on youtube and giving out my views, there is one person who had the NERVE to accuse ME, the BRAT, NanaEddy, as being UMNO supporter. and that is the reason I wrote what I did.

What the heck????

If you do not agree with my views, you can just say that you don't. You don't have to make such uneducated (STUPID) accusation just to make me look bad. I am not affiliated to UMNO in anyway. I couldn't care less which party is ruling the country, just as long as I don't feel wronged. I HATE POLITICS the most. You have the nerve accusing ME to be someone who comments based on which party I support? Are you sure you aren't the one doing that??? Please, go get some education, travel or something to broaden up your mind. Such person as you is a DISGRACE.

Okay, finished blowing some steam off. Feel free to agree or disagree with me. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions right?

Hey, I'm brat. But one with a damn good head on her shoulder (if I may say so myself).

The Brat with Opinions,

p/s: On the bright side of everything else, BERSIH showed us how the Malaysian could come together as one. It doesn't matter what religion or race you are. What matters is we are Malaysian. Let's try to be proud at it. - I know I am :)

btw, I've read an article written by Ridhuan Tee. I couldn't have said things better than he did. He spoke of the somethings that I was thinking but is so inadequate to explain. Check out his blog. Ridhuan Tee

Yellow is the new Controversy color

I think most of you (Malaysian) know or have heard of the Bersih 2.0 event happening tomorrow (9/7/2011). Personally, I couldn't care less about the event. I do not support it and I do not go against it either. I took the more irresponsible option - Feigning ignorance.

However, I find that as it gets closer, this issue keeps on getting on my nerve. May it be because of the very negative light that the government was forcing on to the event, the useless and intrusive as well as annoying roadblocks the police are announcing to have or the adamant, hard-headed supporters or organizers who just refuse to see that what they are planning to do IS intrusive and annoying to the common rakyat.

I agree that the message Bersih was meant to sent is a good one - and it should be made into practice. but, just like when there's a huge concert or Jom Heboh or F1 or an international football match, it would definitely create MASSIVE traffic jam, and not to mention become something that would inconvenience the people around the area. Events that includes participation from  a lot of people is NEVER without any disturbance/chaos/incident - especially when the emotion runs high.Of course road block is not going to help the situation AT ALL.

On both sides, there are too much propaganda.

I agree that this kind of even could cause chaos, panic as well as shading a negative light on the country but what's with the over emphasis on BERSIH being KOTOR and those third-rate propaganda-stink ads on TV that makes people even more annoyed? Please, have you never listened to wise people saying? "The greatest pleasure in life is doing things people say you can't do" or "makin dilarang makin menjadi". Please, grow up. The people is already SO SICK of you hogging the mainstream media to yourselves. Ads such as that really won't help. It would just fuel and enrage people more.

On the other side, videos were posted to highlight the Government incompetence/ mistakes or law enforcers making arrest runs around in viral. Ok, so some of the arrest have no basis whatsoever, but what's with video that highlights about "Wawasan 2020" or "Food price increase" or "different PM different slogan" or "Church Bombing" or how BN had been ruling have to do with Bersih's main objective? It makes people wonder isn't this just another tool for the opposition for their benefit? In other words, another propaganda.

I support Bersih's objective, and I think the government should too. But seeing the media play by both sides - mainstream by the government and alternative by the organizers/supporters, I decide that this is just WRONG. Seriously, this is the very reason I proclaimed myself as being ignorant.

This is one of the video that had been moving around the net. The very reason why I was prompted to write this definitely-gong-to-be-provocative post.

I know I'm gonna sound like I am taking the govt side. But I'm not. I'm stating the thoughts I have as I was watching it.

1st, it's weird someone who is claiming to 'love' the country has yet to have an i/c (he said i/c belum bikin)and is using a passport instead and unfortunately I don't quite understand half of what he's saying to be sure of the reason.

2nd, the police were doing their job. People were crowding and cars are slowing down due to the incident and congesting the ever-so-always congested kl street. He's done nothing wrong but the result of his action were intrusive to others.

3rd, The chubby police was wrong for taking the ID when he promised not to do so, but I think that is because his superior or colleague were asking for it. But still he should have stand true to his promise. And he was being too impolite in dealing with the old man (like raising voice and ignoring the old man's rant). The other one was much more calm and that looks a lot better than ignoring or forcing.

Take note that I despise the corruption in law enforcers more than anything else. BUT I also despise people who would not even consider to listen and those who ignores other people hardwork and keeps on pointing out their mistake. Yes, police are swamped with corruption and yes, it needs to be corrected but it is also a fact that they work twice or more harder than any average person. Please just name me one person who is alive now that had NEVER done any mistake. Try to be a bit understanding will you?

Oh my. this has suddenly become a long post. I'll retire now. Sorry if I offend anyone. Oh well~ whether u agree or disagree, this is just another piece of my opinion.

Adinda Evans ku sayang~

Alright, who thinks 14 as being old enough to know about the world?

Who thinks that being "not a virgin" is something to be broadcast of?

"kesah ape aku bukan virgin
ni lagi 1 punyaa hal . aku tau dlm dunia ni tak ramai ponpuan ada DARA.
skrg susa nk dpt girl yg ade dara . aku kesah ape org nk pggil aku bohsia ? lau kau mara org pggil kau bohsia , means betol la yg kau tu bohsia . sedar sedar la weh .. jgn ingat dlm dunia ni aku srg je tade dara ! pkir sbelum ckp . YEAHH . aku jujor la dgn korang , AKU DA PERNAH MAEN ! puas ? ade ke org nak mngaku mcm ni ? takkan punya .. bia org nak pandang hina kat kita . asalkan kita ade MARUAH DIRI !
thankyou :) "

Yeah, it's probably the 14 year old who has no idea how cruel the world can be. When she wrote that, she might never have thought she just subjected herself to massive amount of criticism. Well, that ought to teach her to think again and again and AGAIN before posting something up.

And if you're wondering why am I writing about this, I'm just trying to "steal" some traffic away on the "hot topic" of the day. I mean, she actually made it to top twitter worldwide trending! I think this had already escalated to cyber bullying seeing how people stalked her to her fb and related accounts and keeps on thrashing her.

For those who don't know Adinda Evans, she is the 14 year old girl who had blogged about not being a virgin anymore. Some of you might think, so what? And I agree. However, it didn't stop me from peeking into her said post (which has been deleted). I have to say, I had to shake my head in awe. (See my views on pre marital sex)

At 14 years old, I was that snotty kid who giggles when a certain guy look at my way. At that age, I had butterflies breeding just because that certain boy that I liked talks to me. Just being alone together or doing something together is already too much for me to take in. Holding hands might just make me faint on the spot (It didn't happen okay!) Kissing? Having SEX? Losing Virginity? Those are something that is out of my grasp to think about or imagine. I don't think I know or think at all about sex then (well, maybe have some ideas thanks to western movies).

14 years old anatomy (source)

But this girl. She's practically announcing to the world that she is no longer a virgin. Doing it is already one stupid thing for her to do. Blogging about it is another stupid thing she does. And another serious, stupid but laughable mistake she did was to actually put her boyfriend's picture on her blog (she deleted this too now).

Source
If I made a bet that the boy had bolted and run to hide, I think I'm a millionaire now.

What I feel sorry the most is how her parents felt about this. Normal typical Malaysian parents could not have lived through this without a permanent deep scar. I know my parents couldn't. I would rather die first before I humiliate my family this way and put them through such pain.

Source
But do I blame the girl? Do I blame the family? Do I blame the openness of media nowadays? I don't know. There is no finger pointing here. But I pray that this would not happen to my friends and family. I pray that there won't come a time when fingers will be pointing at me for not being able to save someone close to me.

The one at fault is you! (Source)
Dearest girl, whoever you are. If by luck or by chance you stumbled upon this blog know that I am not trying to judge you for your mistake. I sincerely hope you'll get through this and learn from it. Next time in the next few years at least until you're 20, when u think you're old enough to make your own decision, try and ask for a real adult's opinion first. It might saves you from the heartache and headache you might have signed up for if you didn't.

Source
Adults and older people might not always be right or cool, they might be old fashioned and sometimes smelly, but they had lived much longer than you did. They do know more about this world than you do. Give them some credit for living longer than you have. So don't snub them off just because their values or views does not match with what you deemed as fun. Despite how it seems, a lot of "fun" things are highly hazardous. Just keep that in mind!

This is again, just a humble opinion from the Brat. I might be wrong and I might be right, for what it's worth, it is what I think.

A MAN man up and say sorry, BOY!

It is seriously frustrating and irritating when you have to deal with a man-boy. A man-boy I mean here is a male who is SUPPOSED to be mentally matured at their age (early twenties) and THINKS themselves as a full-fledge male and TRY to carry themselves as a man but in reality, they are mentally inadequate to act as one and thinks that the world revolves around them and nobody else mattered but themselves.

In other words an immature MAN who still thinks like a BOY.

Don't get me wrong, there are early-twenties guys who are refreshingly matured and very much reliable, in fact, I have come across a lot of them but in this post I'm talking about those who are not.

When I was in my late teens and even up until now in my mid-twenties, every now and then this type of man-boy will appear right in front of me. I have to admit, it is a delicious prospect for me to try and knock some sensibility into them but for each and every time, I find that dealing with man-boys are ultimately exhausting. Emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausting. Having a woman-girl who has little toleration with BSs at the side at that particular moment definitely does not help the situation (yeap my darling lil sis).

One characteristics shared by ALL man-boys I've met is they NEVER say sorry. What's worst is that they DO NOT know they are in the wrong or if they do, they just don't want to admit it.

I always find this very puzzling. What is so hard about saying sorry? It won't kill you, it won't hurt you, it won't make you look less. In fact, saying sorry makes you the BIGGER person. Saying sorry makes less people hurt (emotionally and perhaps physically). Saying sorry when it is appropriate to do so marks a MATURE and WISE man.

Two most prominent time I have encountered this man-boy type was when I was 20 and just recently. For as long as I had known them, they had hurt my feelings numerous times, and they knew it. They had crossed the line for "joking" so many times and they knew it but they NEVER say sorry. Not even when I decided to walk away.

Five years ago, after being brutally beaten and hurt (emotionally) by a man-boy I decided to walk away from him. I decided that it was time for me to put myself first and not be hurt by him again (which I failed miserably). When we reconciled as friends, until the very end (I totally disconnected myself from him 2 years later) he never once said he was sorry to me - even when he admitted his wrong to his friend. He was hurt the way that he had hurt me and even worse both of the times, yet still he had never apologized to me.

Now, five years later, I found another man-boy. I am no longer that 18 years old girl who is so very excited with love and life but has little or no filtering for heartbreaks anymore. Thankfully, I had matured with age and know better than to hurt myself over a guy who is not worth my emotions.

But this was a different set of circumstances, because I am not romantically interested in him. He was more like a lil brother or a friend and I am merely an observer. I saw and witness all the things that the last guy did all over again - only this time I am not the recipient of those  cruel treatments. I try to warn the girls (yes there were more than one) about what they might be subjecting themselves to (in the most subtle way) but I know, I wouldn't be able to save them from the heartache I once felt. So I tried to drum in a little reasoning to the man-boy but unfortunately, like all man-boys, he just wouldn't listen and just blatantly REFUSE to see their wrong. So, even as a friend I too had to deal with the tantrums of this man-boy and let me tell you, it is damn FRUSTRATING. Just imagined, he had caused his cousin (who had an appointment with me) to be late for our appointment an hour and a half (which caused me and my sis wasted a good three hours waiting for the appointment), but still asked WHY he needed to apologize and WHAT wrong did he did!! (thanks to that, I now have a topic for my blog).

so for both times, I told them,

A real MAN man up and say SORRY when they are in the WRONG. You still have a LONG way to go, BOY!
(the first time I added, call me only when you have GROWN UP!)

Other (annoying, infuriating, exasperating) characteristics shared by man-boys,

They are BAD with promises
They are think everything revolves around them
They think their feelings are the most important thing and others just don't have any feelings or if they do, it mattered less then theirs.
They think that the world and everyone else MUST follow or WILL follow their rhythm and will not subject himself to change it.
They think they are "old" enough.
They usually assumes they are the only one who is right.
Some of them also assumes that they are very knowledgeable in everything.
They can be heartlessly cruel
They seldom own up to their mistakes

Yet other (still annoying, infuriating, exasperating when combined with the above) better characteristics shared by man-boys,

They are good friends, who will go to lengths to help you (when they feel like it)
They are smooth talker (well, at least they know what to say at the right time)
They know how to please people (but some of them when people (especially girls) started to feel special with the treatment and care they showed, they will pull themselves out in the most cruel way)
They are curious, intelligent people (although their performance in studies vary on their level of commitment) thus they know a lot of things (usually unrelated to studies).
They are heart-throbs (whether they realize it or not)

Through time, these man-boys do grow up. They will mature and by that time, be ripe for plucking. hahaha. And I must say that I'm looking forward to what kind of person they will bloom into. My only wish is for them to NOT TAKE A DAMN LONG TIME to do so!!!! lols~

A little "nudge" (reprimand) from the Brat

This is a post I wrote in response to another blogger's post. He was a bit dissatisfied with the Student Council at his campus. And I felt that what he did was a bit too much like an empty can - a mistake many of us (including me) tend to make.

The Wrath of a Blogger

It is interesting to see how far a person would go once they put their mind in it. I would have applauded with all 20 fingers if I can to Supia for standing up for her beliefs.Just think, just to prove her point, she waded through 153 posts!! I'll be dizzy after just reading 15 blogs. She's one determined and awesome chick if you ask me.

Reading her recent post on her dissatisfaction of NN's competition a thought crossed my mind, NEVER provoke the wrath of a serious blogger. You'd be signing off your early retirement letter if you do. Probably, one might think, what can a puny little blogger do to a large organization? Agreed that one puny no-body blogger will make little or no impact. But try to stop and think, what happens when there are a lot of other bloggers who read their blog agrees with them? What if one mega famous blogger happens to read their post, agreed and re-post it or tell their followers to go and take a peak on that post? Do you still think it will not effect your organization?

I am not agreeing or disagreeing with Supia's claims. I think she has her points, but I also think that NN have their own procedures. After all, there is always two sides in a story. However, mistakes as this, might spell the end of NN if they are not careful. If bloggers start to run away from them, no matter how many advertisers they get, it wouldn't make any change.

The blogosphere may be a large area, but it is one that resonates and multiply.

A pin falling on the floor might sound like a bomb exploding in the blogosphere world. So thread the waters carefully if you don't want to fall into a whirlpool.

I am really tired to have coherent thoughts. So I'll end this post here now. Just writing to support this friend of mine. Go check out her blog and see if you agree with her :) Supiaholic

The Supiaholic's rant "Dumb guys let their lower body control their mind, but dumber girls let the guy low body destroy their life" the BRAT's take

WARNING! - This is a long. wordy and serious post!

Supiaholic's rant on Dumb guys let their lower body control their mind, but dumber girls let the guy low body destroy their life couldn't be more dead on than it already is. I agree with the title 100% an thus the reason why I keep the title. Probably just being 18 she only have heard this kind of story once. Not for me though.. But she's not wrong. Being YOUNG never I repeat NEVER makes what one person is saying wrong.

The Brat had personally heard this kind of stories coming from brat's acquaintances and closed friends. It crushes my heart each time. And in crushing my heart, it never fails to make me angry as well.

The drugs was hidden inside an umbrella: witness

Shah Alam - Two Philippine citizens were brought on trial for the second hearing this morning for the allegation of having approximately 500 grams of heroin pills when they were apprehended by the police on 29th November 2008.

Assistant Superintendent Nor Rashid in his statement said that the suspects were hiding the pills inside an umbrella that were carried by one of the suspect.

The defense, counsel Haris Salleh in his cross examine of the prosecutor's witness, question the reason why the police did not spot the packaging during the first sighting of the suspects.

"At first when we spotted the suspect, I did not see the packaging as the umbrella was on an upright position however, when we had put a closer distance, when the suspect slightly tilted the umbrella to be closed, then only I can see the packaging dangling from the top of the umbrella." said Nor Rashid

He added that when the second suspect handed the umbrella over to the first suspect, there was a noticeable bulge on the then closed umbrella.

Due to the absence of case evidence, the umbrella, in the court, the judge, Judge Datuk Siti Mariah postponed the hearing to the nest day at 10.

On the prosecution side was Deputy Prosecutor Ridha Abdah.

Malaysian Cool la Weh!

Lately, I felt down and despaired by how us Malaysian kept on fighting with each other. What makes it worst are the people who chose to paint the situation in black and advertise it through various medium how bad the situation is for the rest of the world to see. They usually do it for the sake of 'freedom of speech' and 'getting the truth out' which essentially, not wrong. Malay proverb calls it as "membuka sekam di dada" which means you are opening up wide your 'skeletons in the closet'. But they forgot that as a group, we do not broadcast our weakness to outsiders, especially to the enemies. Those who does it are considered a traitor.

Source

However today, my spirit soar up a bit when I saw this advertisement by Digi . I don't care if it's done by whom and if there is  "ulterior' motives behind it, what I do care is that the message it brings forward are something that everyone who call themselves Malaysian can relate to. If not, then maybe, you should not live here. Throw away your 'my card' and be a citizen of other country. You may be ungrateful and wish to hurry and escape this country, but once you are out there, you might be itching to get back. For whether you like it or not, this is us, Malaysians.

Selamat Hari Malaysia :)

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire...

Have you ever wondered why people tend to lie when they did something wrong? Lying, seems like an easy way out, but when the truth is, in the end, it will cause much more havoc, much more heartache and hurt, then when you admit it in the first place. Actually, most of us know that already, but still we choose to lie. Why?

I blame my elders for that.

Subconsciously we had been taught by our environment that telling the truth will only get us into trouble. Just imagine a careless child spilling the water on the floor. When mommy ask who did it, and the child innocently confess - the child obviously got scolded by mommy. Scolded wrongly, the kid learned admitting your wrong and telling the truth will get you into trouble, instead of trying to be more careful next time. Then imagine this scenario happens again, do you think the child would confess again? Even an animal had better sense than doing so.

This scenario happens not once but a few times as we grow up. Every time we confess on doing something wrong, we usually got into trouble for it. Slowly, it became engraved in our minds and we feel afraid to tell the truth and we opt for the long way and seemingly less painful way out, by lying.

So I am making a vow to myself today, and making you guys as my witnesses that I would not scold my children in the way that makes them afraid to tell the truth the next time.

You guys should think about it too. What we are today are the result of what we learn by observing what others do and how they treat us and are being treated throughout our lives. Are we going to let our children opt for lying, when lying is actually a more painful and long way out?

Well, it's just me, a brat saying, But hey, just because I'm a brat, that doesn't mean I'm wrong. Heed the saying

"Listen not to who are saying but to what they are saying".

Take care,

The Deal with "Tudung"

"Rimaslah!!"
"Eeee Kolot!!
"Your hair is beautiful, why hide it?"
"Women's hair is aurat. It is compulsory to keep it hidden"
"Hey, girls who wear 'tudung' is beautiful what?"

So many views, so many contradiction. For those who doesn't get it, they'll probably think, "What's the deal with tudung anyway? It's such an old story"

True, in a sense IT IS an old story. But like other old stories, it gets retold, and refreshed and replicated. This old issue is talked about in so many different angles by youths to youths for youths.

So what IS the deal with this 'tudung' wearing? Simple, it's a law created by the Muslim's God to protect and prevent harm from His women subjects. Women, are naturally the reason men became tempted. So basically the 'tudung' is used to hide some of the temptations a woman can tempt men to do. The act of wearing 'tudung' or 'hijab' or scarfs can be symbolize like a pearl inside it's shell.

"A woman should be like a pearl. The pearl can only be obtained from underneath the depth of sea, safely tucked inside it's protective shell. When it is uncovered, it is extremely valuable and highly appreciated. Unlike the stones beside the road, usually trampled upon, always been seen and exposed to the world but hardly ever seen as valuable and even more rarely appreciated."

"If it's compulsory, then why do I see some who wears and some who don't?" They ask.

Well, My explanation is simple. It's the same reason as any other rules, laws or regulations are being broken- and No, regardless of how many people says it, Rules are NOT made to be broken.

Let me give you a simple example, when we were in school, the teachers were always telling us to stand in line and not to make noise. But what happened? There's always some kids who will be pushing around their friends and joking and not to mention making noise and spreading it around. Now in this case, the teacher's words are an instruction - it is the law. So why did those kids ignore it? Easy, its because they want to. It might be because of various of reasons; they got excited over something, they are bored, they don't take the instruction seriously, etc. Regardless what ever the reasons are, they just want to go against it.

Simple.

Then, the next one says. "Really, it's no big deal. I don't see any difference wearing it or not. My friend also wears it but she smoke, hardly ever prayed and she's always showing me pictures of her smooching with her guy. My free-haired friends are better than her."

Let's just get this straight. True, the are some 'scums of the earth' who go around and make other 'tudung' wearers looks bad. And true, some of my acquaintances who is free-haired is much better off than some other girls I know (heck, some are better than me!) But, let's compare it fairly this way;

Girl A who wears scarf, drinks and smooched, vs Girl B who is free-haired, drinks and smooched. *ding ding ding* "and the winner iiissss.... Obvious isn't it? Girl A committed 2 sins and Girl B committed 3 sins. If you put the same characteristics together on the same plate with the difference only in wearing scarf or not, you'd always get the same deduction as me. Although Girl A looks much more pathetic and gives a more bad impression than Girl B, Girl A is better off than Girl B.
End of 3rd issue. Hmm... I'm starting the next with this quote,
"Minah minah tudung zaman sekarang banyak cacat otak, Bodoh!
Pakai tudung tapi pakaiannya ketat-ketat, Bodoh!"
Two lines from a song did by some university student about how stupid girls with 'tudung' nowadays are. Wearing 'tudung' but their outfit is too tight too thin or too short. It might be an insult. but sadly to say, i agree with them.

If u ask those girls that were mentioned why do they wear two contradicting outfit? The reason, as what the Youthsays youth stated might be;

- to look trendy
- the hair looks ugly
- although the hair is ugly, the body is not
- 'tudung' is compulsory, wearing big outfits are waaay old school
- it's hard dieting, why cover the result?
Regardless of what the reasons are, most Youthsays : It's ridiculous.

However, one answer attracted me the most, she said ,

"bile dh b'tudung... pakaian plak diungkit....bile x b'tudung....ttp gak di ungkit.."

It reminds me of what my little sister said once,

"yang selalu kita dengar; dah pakai tudung, tapi buat perangai macam ni atau pakai macam tu. Kenapa tak pernah dengar; dah la tak pakai tudung, perangai pulak macam ni atau pakai pulak macam tu"

In a sense I do agree with both of them. So 'I' say;
"Hey, it's better than wearing that thin, short or tight outfit without the 'tudung'!!" Lols

Ahah!! A contradiction!! What a confused writer I am... Not really. Although I do agree with the song in some way or the other, I don't really think bad about those girls.

"there's always at least two sides of everything"

Rather than getting myself all worked up, I like to think positively. I just assume that they are trying to change, albeit slowly. So, if you have friends who looks 'lost and confused', give them chances to change, do not discriminate or put them down, but encourage them. Compliment them when they wear it the right way and advise them a better way to do so. Those who doesn't feel like wearing it, don't condemn people who do, and vice-versa. After all, we're aiming for harmonized living right? "1Malaysia" as the PM said.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No matter how silly it is. If I've somewhat hurt anyone in my writing, I didn't really meant to. But it's good if you felt something, it means that you care. Please forgive me for being a brat. I'm just being truthfully me.

A brat WITHOUT her (concrete) opinion??? : Palestine vs Israel issue

Yes, I never thought there would be a day, I will be left without a concrete stand on an issue.

If ANYONE take a look at my background- with me being a Muslim and all - they would have easily assumed that I would stand behind Palestine. Well, they are WRONG.

First of all, to all my fellow Muslims, don't take me wrong. I am NOT saying we should abandon our fellow Muslim. NEVER! Please be patient until I finish explaining.

As a GROUND RULE, allow me to emphasize that I Absolutely, ultimately, 100%ly, very-very HATE Wars. There, it's out. To me, wars are just selfish desires of the person(s) who are ruling the country to expand their 'power' - No matter what EXCUSE they gave to justify it. - Some of you may think that "ape hal budak ni, kata takde opinion" Well, it's not that I don't have an opinion, it's just that I don't know how to CONCLUDE my opinion.

On one side, I despise and condemn the act of the Israel military when they uphold and attacked the help ship. As a fellow Malaysian, I worry of the safety of our people in the ship. As a Muslim, I am obliged to support my fellow Muslim (I voluntarily support, I do not feel forced). If there is a threat to my religion, I will stand up for it. I know how horrible, deceiving and cruel humans can be by nature - and it's not just Hitler. A two digit number (puluhan) death are payed with millions lives by them. And so, I worry for my fellow Muslim's safety, and I pray for the elevation of their sufferings. (and it is so not fair that Gaza is practically DESTROYED while Israel is very much intact. Shouldn't wars effect both sides?)

BUT on the other side, I had NEVER judged people from the collective view (stereotype) and I don't plan to start now. So, I don't and won't hate a person just because they are Jewish. Even Rasulullah do not treat the Jews badly. Heck, he even embraces them even though they spit on him. (click here for story). Only, we should be weary of them, for they could be deceitful and break their promises.

Another thing, I could not back up the attitudes of the people in Gaza towards the Israel people. I cannot support them when they are spitting hate word, condemning the Jews and their ancestral, and also for thei act and words that was thrown intentionally to provoke them. Yes, I do understand the deep hatred they have, but hadn't it been shown throughout the history, times and times again that violence is NOT the answer? Hadn't we been taught by our religion, the Prophet, all the Ulama' before us and our forefathers that WORDS should be CHOSEN WISELY, and that WORDS could DESTROY even a whole nation. Then why oh WHY won't you listen, why won't you THINK before you act or speak, knowing full well that they are just looking for a REASON, just about ANY REASON to attack you WITHOUT being in the wrong.

So, how am I to make a concrete opinion? One part of me wants to support the Palestinians with all of me, and some other part of me says that they somehow had it coming for them.  Thus, it has taken me this long to write on the issue. I am supporting Gaza, and I hope with all of my heart that the war would STOP.

I mean, they said Israel attacks Gaza because they are "searching for the Hamas people that had been attacking and shooting the people in Israel in towns that has nothing to do with military" And the Hamas people was just HATING the Israel who is living in a land they DON'T OWN.  LIKE I CARE!!

Religions aside, WHY THE HECK DOES THE INNOCENT PEOPLE NEEDS to SUFFER FOR THE SELFISH REASONS OR AGENDA THE RULERS HAVE????

It makes no sense.

Wake up people!!

Just a thought from a brat with without opinions,

P/s: If I had this book, I might have made a more concrete decision on the topic. It's what Israeli-ans had been doing to prepare the assault on Palestinians in 2009 - which had been an on-going thing since 2005

Summary
Israel's 2009 invasion of Gaza was a vicious act of aggression that left well over one thousand Palestinians dead and devastated the infrastructure of an already impoverished enclave. In this searching examination of Israel's policies, award- winning journalist Gideon Levy shows how the ground was prepared for the assault and documents its continuing effects. From 2005-the year of Gaza's "liberation"-through to 2009, he tracks Israel's abandonment of the pretense of diplomacy in favor of a policy of provocation and raw military power, with the ultimate aim of denying Palestinians any chance of forming their own independent state. Punished by Israel and the Quartet of international powers for the democratic election of Hamas, Gaza has been transformed into the world's largest open-air prison. From Gazan families struggling to cope with the random violence of Israel's blockade and its "targeted" assassinations, to the machinations of legal experts and the continued connivance of the international community, every aspect of this ongoing tragedy is eloquently recorded and forensically analyzed. Levy's powerful journalism shows how the brutality at the heart of Israel's occupation of Palestine has found its most complete expression to date in the collective punishment of the residents of Gaza.

Allah is for Muslims???

Yup, I waited until everyone is exhausted listening to this issue to write up my opinion. Like always, I'm a step lagging behind. That doesn't mean I don't have any view on the matter though.

I was sent an e-mail by a journalist from an online news website. She's a non Muslim which I will refer as P. Here's the first e-mail (which she sent to many)

Hey guys!

I need your opinion! The reason why I messaged you guys is to ask for your thoughts on the Allah issue. Yes I know. Sensitive. But we want to prove that young people are level-headed and reasonable. I need answers that seek to calm, not provoke.

However, your feelings on this, no matter which way it blows, is 100% accepted. Go ahead and speak up. (Subject to the Editor's touch la of coz!) Say what you feel, but temper it with reason. Give me your email/MSN if you are keen.

Thanks!

I feel it's great that they wanted to know about youth's view and so I replied.

Allah is not an 'issue'. I feel it's not appropriate to use the word 'issue' here since 'issue' refers to a problem. If u say using the word 'Allah' to refer to Jesus - issue, then it will be okay.

As far as I am concern, there is not much of an issue if they want to use the term. It's not new. Sometimes, translations does use the term Jesus to indicate Allah as well - for better understanding. However, I do understand the fuss that is going on. To Muslim, Allah is the one and only god. He is not born nor does He bore. In christian however, they have the trinity concept. Where there is the father, the son and the holy spirit. This may be misleading to those who have poor knowledge of Islam. There were many - although unproven rumor that many Muslims have converted into other religion. Now, apostasy is not something that is acceptable to Muslims. Just like any other religion, they worry when their fellow followers, stray from 'the right path'. and so, using the term 'Allah' to signify other God than the one that we believe in is somewhat disturbing, when we look at the potential confusing that it would bring. The using the word is not such a big issue, but the catastrophe it would bring due to being confused is.

For me, the question I want to ask is not whether they could or could not use the term, instead what I want to ask is WHY? They too have their own term for their god "Jesus".. Then why do they need to use the term 'Allah'? What is their reasoning behind using the term? Are they purposely trying to evoke the wrath of people? Are they purposely trying to create chaos? Or is it merely an attempt to be 'poetic' gone awry? No matter how I look at it, I still want to know why? what is the need? I really hope that the Herald team would be able to give an ample reason for it.

As for the bombing that is allegedly related to the case. All I can say is that whoever it was is either purposely trying to wreck havoc or are extremely idiot. We don't know who it was or what religion or ethnic they are from but if they were Muslim, please parade them around in bound and shackles to be spit and throw stones upon. FYI in Islam, we are forbidden to attack worship houses (rumah ibadat) be it a church, a temple or a mosque. In fact our prophet (back when they always went to war) told his subjects to spare the people who seek refuges inside the worship houses. None are to be harmed and touch. And so I feel the people who tries to insult or destroy a religious home doesn't deserve to live peacefully.

and then, P replied to me

Hi Nana, thanks for your answer. Appreciate your feedback. :) Would like you to elaborate though.

1) what do you think is the effect of these bombings on our country's image?
2) What is the big picture to you? (big picture: ie, we need to live in peace., etc etc)
3) how do you think this issue can be resolved? Whats should be the right and fair reaction by all Malaysians?

And so, without fully answering her question, I answered...

The bombings would definitely mar the image of the country, without a doubt. But, I don't think it would permanently destroy the image - just as long as the culprit is apprehended, and they don't make it a trend to bomb things. Maybe I am foolishly optimistic or perhaps naive, but I see so many good things still here in our country, and so much potentials that can be used and exploited. Any and every country in the world, no matter how advanced, peaceful or calm it seems on the surface has their own internal dispute and turmoil - That's how we learn, so that we know how to improve ourselves.

I would love to paint a picture where people will start looking at the positive things and be thankful. When looking at the negative things, the thing they would be focusing on is how to improve the situation, instead of how bad or negative the situation is. It's good to acknowledge and analyze the problems at hand, but instead of working towards the solution, people tend to only focus on the problem - and that makes the problem worst. Painting a bleak picture to people who are ignorant and without thinking, those people started and joined the riot - without actually getting the correct information and even worse, without knowing what they are really doing. 'Peace' i believe is a condition of mind. What some people finds peaceful might be boring to others. This 'bored' people are the ones who create 'excitement'. and 'excitement' to some people might mean riot, turmoil, or even war for many others.

I agree with the government's decision to request the Herald to take out the term. I am not being racist here, but it's the thing that would calm the conventional minds. After retracting the term, if there are some people who is still trying to create an uproar, then perhaps, that person has a different agenda on mind, and should be investigated thoroughly. Whatever it is that would be done, one thing I would never consent to is if they use an outsider's influence. Meaning, seeking help from outside/ other country's power. That would only be repeating the same mistake that our forefathers did, when they allow the British to meddle into internal disputes - which then leads to our country being colonized for hundreds of years. As for the bombing cases, anyone with any information should come forward. Let's get those moron.

Yup, I'm lazy. I'm even cheating on writing my blog!!Lols. But it is my true opinion. Even as I read it again, I didn't want to change any of it - period.

The religion is sacred, it's the people who makes it look like it's corrupted - just another opinion from a brat.

Departure

If life has lost it's meaning, can you find meaning in death?

I happen to watch a trailer with something like the phrase above (I don't remember the exact words but it means something like that). And it triggers the blogger in me (sounds good when saying it that way doesn't it?... LOLs). Anyway, the title of the movie is Departure. Here's a summary I took from http://www.metacafe.com/watch/2691721/departures_movie_trailer/

"Daigo Kobayashi (Masahiro Motoki), a devoted cellist in an orchestra that has just been dissolved and who is suddenly left without a job. Daigo decides to move back to his old hometown with his wife to look for work and start over. He answers a classified ad entitled Departures thinking it is an advertisement for a travel agency only to discover that the job is actually for a "Nokanshi" or "encoffineer," a funeral professional who prepares deceased bodies for burial and entry into the next life. While his wife and others despise the job, Daigo takes a certain pride in his work and begins to perfect the art of Nokanshi, acting as a gentle gatekeeper between life and death, between the departed and the family of the departed. The film follows his profound and sometimes comical journey with death as he uncovers the wonder, joy and meaning of life and living."
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I read that it won several awards. Maybe when I did watch it, I'll review it a bit here. But what was running through my mind when I saw the trailer, was a whole different thing than the storyline - SUICIDE.

When LIFE has LOST it's meaning... What do people do with their lives? What runs through their mind when there is no longer meaning for them to be alive? Is DEATH the answer? Will death brings any meaning at all?? A friend of mine once told me that people who commit suicide, -to him - is very brave. He said that killing another person is a thousand or million times more easy than killing oneself. Even when we intentionally try to hurt ourselves, like cutting your hand or knocking your head we would hesitate - a lot. I agree with him. so I said, "Suicide is the most bravest cowardice act in the world for the most coward people."

When you die, there is no meaning left. Not for you. For other people, well, maybe it will stick to them for a while but eventually, people will forget. then, what is there left?

If you feel like your reason to live is gone, then find another reason to live. You say you are depressed, the world look empty or cruel or cold or full of stress then, it's not the world, it's YOU. The world is only what you want it to see as. No matter how bad you think your situation is, there is always someone who is in a way more terrible situation than you. STOP with the 'you're not me, you don't know how I feel' or 'I have a lot of problems that you cannot understand' CRAP. Of course I don't understand, of course I don't know, I'm not you. I don't see the world in a negative light and find every other reason to make a fault at something like you. Even if you feel like your world is crashing, believe me, if you stop to actually look for a while, it probably isn't. I'm not saying the problem doesn't exist, but everyone have their own situation, have their own problem that they have to face. At a point in everyone's life, there will be problems and conflicts that can make a person just want to jump off a high rise or a cliff. But - the difference is weather you want to face it or run a way from it. Suicide, is simply the first easiest exit. And blaming others and everything else, is the second. Both easy exits never bring any positive result.

Now let's say that if you wronged someone, and you want to pay back by killing yourself, what you get is you dying... What about the other person??? They maybe have to live in trauma, they maybe felt like dying themselves, but no matter what happen, the wrong has not been right. there is no way the other person can feel that they had been done right for. In this case, dying is also the only easy way out. The more dreadful option is actually living facing the person. If you had done wrong, the only right thing you can do is to actually live, and face the consequence. Face the loathing that is being thrown at you and still help them anyway you can.Throwing in some other charity won't be such a bad idea as well.
Suicide to me, is an act that is VERY selfish. That's right - even when they justify it, as for someone else. They might say "They're better off without me" "If I'm not here, they will be happier" "If I die, they can get money" in the end, what they are thinking is themselves. They can't stand LIVING and become a burden for someone else - instead of working to lessen the burden, they choose death. They can't stand LIVING and being hated, - instead of working to be a better person, and find people who actually can like them, they choose death. They can't stand LIVING and be poor, - instead of striving to live and work to earn money, they choose death. Had they actually think about someone else other than themselves, they would've realized, no one wants them to commit suicide.

Jokingly, I always tell my friends, "if I can't get this or that, I'm gonna kill you." and they said "don't people usually kill themselves? why kill me?" I said, If I kill someone else, at least one day (in a country with no death penalty) I might be forgiven. Even in my religion, if I really repented, I could be forgiven. But if I kill myself, there is no more forgiveness to give. And even my God won't except me.

I don't remember what anime it was, one phrase I heard that time is still stuck on my heart until today. It says, "Live... as long as you're alive, you can do anything. As long as you're alive, you can be happy" - or something like that :)

Just ramblings from a brat with opinions,
