NN Food Fest 2013 - Malaysia First Ever Tw(Eat) Fest

Howdy peeps.
It seems a long time since I last wrote anything with any brains here. hoho. Sorry about that :p
So today, since i'm in mood, I'm writin. XD

I've missed the previous Nuffnang's Food Fest and this year, I thought I should go and see it. I mean, it is something different. You tweet then you get to eat. We're like using the social media currency.

Well, of course you don't really get that much of portion, so I did not really expect to eat till I'm burst. lol

Some of my tweets on the day

But with the many many vendors that were there that day, I was pretty full by the time I reached the last booth.

But most of all, I had fun. I had a funny companion on that day that eats twice (or more) as much as I do. Thanks Riyal for accompanying me to the event.

A Funny Photo of a Fun-filled Day
Just a heads-up, girls, Riyal is 21 and single (and according to him very available). He has a fun and pleasant personality, easy-going and he's one of hell of an entertainer. He dance, he acts and he beat-box. He also knows karate so you can feel secure around him. So if anyone wants to get to know him, can check out his facebook page. (I'm getting him to set up his blog and twitter soon so you can get to know him more *wink *wink).

P/s: Riyal, you owe me for this :p

We spent a very pleasant evening eating free stuff. muahahha... I'm looking forward to the next event such as this XD

Just a short update from the brat,

A Ramadhan Buffet Review: La Maison, Silka Maytower Hotel & Serviced Residences KL

Happy Ramadhan Everyone!!

First and foremost, I would like to thank this lovely hotel for inviting me yet again to their Ramadhan Buffet food review. Last year I had been invited to their review, and I remember having such great time. You can read about it HERE.

So here's how the hotel look like, if you are wondering which one is the hotel. Or you can check out their webpage HERE

This is how La Maison looks like

And so the food~~ Let's see what they have. This time round, I couldn't bring my sister so I brought the brother I never had, Mr. Rexs or better known as Aki Borneo. I love bringing him to events especially food review as he can eat all the things I couldn't and this guy is much more diligent in taking pictures than I am. heheh. So yeah, most (if not all) general picture here are taken by him :)

Disturbed by the sudden photo attempt. hehe
Okay, let's not waste time and go see what is on my plate on that day, shall we? This time round I am much more wise in maximizing the things I eat while not over-stuffing my self XD

Round 1

Food: Ayam Goreng Berempah, Ikan Keli Masak Berlada, Pajeri Nenas, Udang Masak Percik, Daging Salai Masak Lemak Cili Padi.

Verdict: Everyone seems to love the chicken. I do too, as well goes for the Ikan Keli. I am no fan of Ikan Keli, but I liked this. According to one food blogger, Ken, their Ikan Keli was scrumptious. The Prawn was also nice and the Meat (Daging Salai) is to die for! I had always loved Pajeri Nenas, and this one does not betray the expectation.

Round 2

Food: Rendang Ayam, Rendang Daging, Lemang, Serunding Ayam
Verdict: The Chicken Rendang was Ok. But the Meat Rendang is a bit too Salty. But I guess, when you pair it up with the Lemang, it is quite Ok. The Serunding was nice.

Round 3

Food: Asam Pedas Ikan
Verdict: It was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!! There were quite a few variety. There was Chicken, Prawn, Squid and Meat. But I went for the traditional one which was Fish. It is one of the best Asam Pedas I've eaten by far.

One of their Asam Pedas Variety

Round 4

Food: Desserts!!
Verdict: I especially love the fruit tart. Again I failed at taking down the names. But I remember loving it! The Bread Cake is a bit tasteless, but still not so bad. The Cinnamon Caramel was disastrous for me. I don't like how the cinnamon tastes and some other bloggers said that aside from the cinnamon taste, it was tasteless.

I would say the main dishes this round is just as DELICIOUS as it was last year, if not more. Definitely value for your money. Here, let me entice you with some foods that was there.

The mutton. Aki said it was good. (I don't eat mutton)

Main Dish

Side Dishes & Desserts
As always, food reviews are only as fun as the people you get to meet. I met up with some familiar faces that day. But I only manage to snap two photos of the people sitting at my table:

Mr. Ken (nice to meet ya!) and my favorite CleverMunkey, Mr. Henry Lee
And I collect these photo's from Ken's blog. Chek out his Food POI

Ms. Eunice (right?)
Ms. Choulyin Tan

Just some D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S difficult-to-memorize-ice-cream from New Zealand Natural

My coughing fit is at it's worst now. I haven't been sick like this for years. I'm coughing so hard I actually cried a bit. Coughed so hard that my head is painful thanks to the constant vibration it has to endure and coughed so hard that I started to vomit. Yeah, it's that bad. I feel sorry for the people around me who have to bear the noise coming from me.

Source

Being as sick as I am right now, reminded me of things I must abstain from if I want to get better.

Ice creams.

Source
Which in turn reminded of the last time I ate it - before I was this sick.

So, thanks to Melissa, I had the chance, for the first time ever to try the New Zealand Natural Ice Cream. Well, since I was not actually planning to go for any event, I went there without any camera. So, bear with me while I take you through this journey using pictures I manage to "steal" from other bloggers (especially jackieloi). hehehe

Some of the bloggers that show up that night - source

So, after quite a long time not showing for any blogger events, I somehow managed to steal some time to pop up by New Zealand Natural at The Curve. They were introducing a new flavor called "Pecan Praline Crunch" and previewing two desserts for a special limited time and we were lucky enough to have a taste for it!

The first one of its variety that was served to us was the Pecan Praline Crunch Cookie Sundae.

It was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S and not to mention filling! The soft cookie underneath is to die for! Especially for those who love their sweets. For those who don't really fancy sweets as much (such as me) you might want to share this with someone. It is too good to miss eventhough a bit too sweet to eat the whole portion alone.

The next one that was served to us is the Pecan Praline Crunch Affogato. (yes, the names are impossible to remember. Thank-god for press kits. lol)

This one is a breathe of fresh air to me from the sweetness of the first one. The same delicious ice cream, glazed with caramelized pecan nuts and chocolate syrup and a shot of espresso to accompany it. This is a dessert that will definitely be enjoyed by coffee lover. I'm not too much of a coffee person, but I learned to love this one quickly. The bitter sweet taste accompanied by that delicious crunchy bread gives you a craving for more!

After those two previews, we were allowed to have a taste of any of the many ice cream choices they have

Source - Xue Ren
Unfortunately for me, I had to run back to work, so I had to cut my tasting to a spoon each. I would say you have to try it to believe how good it is!

Pecan Praline Crunch Ice Cream, Pecan Praline Cookie Sundae and Pecan Praline Crunch Affogato will be available at New Zealand Natural outlets by 11th June 2012. For a limited time, the two variations will be on special sale price. Sundae at RM12.90 and RM13.90 for the Affogato. So head out there and give these two scrumptious desert a try!

Bon Appetite!!

Bloggers Chemistry with Coffee??

It's time to clear the dusts and cobwebs that has started to collect at the corner of my blog. How else more purrrrfffect than a bloggers' get together?

And so, (was it last weekend?) Mr. Clever Munkey, a.k.a Henry Lee organized another blogger get together at one of our fellow bloggers' place, the Coffee Chemistry Signature (CCS) in First Subang Mall, Subang Jaya.

Oh don't do that May Lee, it's not healthy for the baby (shout out to the pregnant May Lee. May u have healthy and happy child~ )

La Maison Maytower Gour-"may" Meal

Okay, I know it's so cheesy and corny and so un-catchy that it's not funny at all. But a brat needs to be what a brat is right? Trying out corny world play is just one of many fun in the brat's backyard. (Okay, I don't really have a backyard).

Anyways, the other day, more precisely, last Monday (25th July 2011) Brat was invited to a Ramadhan Buka Puasa Buffet food tasting at La Maison, Maytower Hotel and Serviced Residence. I had Nikel Khor - PaPago kaki to thank for forwarding my name to the organizers.

So my sister, Mimi and I went there with a hungry belly and was ready to EAT! -

Another Food Review - Nasi Lemak Kukus TTDI Jaya

CHANGE OF PACE!!
I'm gonna stop being gloomy NOW!! and give this blog some new environment.

Alright, usually I don't write food reviews - unless the food is free. But, I'll make an exception for this one, since this is one of my favorite place to eat.

Sweetness of a rendezvous @ Whisk

I had the most sweetest early dinner in my whole life...

At a little sweet cafe called the Whisk.

Accompanied by the sweetest, cutest guy ever!!!

My life seemed like an abundance of sweetness~~

Our 2nd rendezvous.

Lols...

I made another date to have another rendezvous with the ever cutie pie FikriFayi (blogger cum photographer) for a hunt for macaroons. After reviewing and searching and asking (mostly to uncle google) we decided to go to Empire Shopping Gallery.

pic taken from Kenny Sia

Tucked at almost a corner at Lower Ground level of Empire Shopping Gallery is a small cafe called Whisk. I had been reading review about this little cafe, so I was highly anticipating the trip there that day.

I knew it was going to be a small cafe, but I was so shocked to see how small it is!

another pic from Kenny Sia

Nevertheless the concept and the interior is very much inviting, and it gives us a whole different feeling than any other cafes in Malaysia.

As I stepped into the cafe, the the very fragrant aroma of coffee filled my nose. It is not those like the overwhelming ones you can smell when you walk by Starbucks or Coffee Bean, it was so soft, and I just love the way it smelled in there.

Even the little beautiful mess in their cafe made me feel so at ease...

Anyway, we went there to try the so-much-talked-about Macaroons there. We tried a piece of each flavors - there were six. strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter, salted caramel and blueberry.

and it was sooooo sweeet!. Fikri loved the vanilla flavor and we both really like the chocolate one. If you guys have a craving for sweets. Definitely try these. If I didn't order a cup of Coffee Latte, I would not be able to eat sweet food for days! (because I don't usually take a lot of sweets).

I have to admit, that the price is a bit expensive for my budget. My coffee latte cost me RM10, and 6pc of macaroons cost me RM12. Oh yeah, and Fikri ordered a piece of pizza (which was quite good) at RM14.40.

Although I don't fancy sweets that much (especially expensive ones) I think Whisk is worth the visit. In fact I plan to go there again and have give their ever popular red velvet cake a try.

Anyone care to join me next time?

The brat who's submerged in sweetness~
