Things I hate about YOU...

I had enough of writing serious thoughts. Hey, I'm still a brat after all... ALL work and NO play makes Nana a boring lass... Lols.

My topic for today, Things I hate about you. I love the quote from 10 things I hate about you movie (feat Julia Stiles). I mean, I love the movie, no doubt but the poem was my favorite;

10 things I hate about you
I hate the way you talk to me,
and the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots
and the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick,
it even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you're always right,
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when youre not around,
and the fact that you didnt call.
But mostly I hate the way I dont hate you,
not even close
not even a little bit
not even at all.

and of course, the lyrics form our sweet little teen star, Miley Cyrus, 7 things I hate about You.
The 7 things I hate about you
You’re vain, your games, you’re insecure
You love me, you like her
You make me laugh, you make me cry
I don’t know which side to buy
Your friends, they’re jerks
When you act like them, just know it hurts
I wanna be with the one I know
And the 7th thing I hate the most that you do
You make me love you

Both are so sweet... (uh oh, Girly talk alert!!) lols. But isn't it ironic, when we say we hate someone, we don't really hate them at all. Especially when the person is someone we love(or used to).

When we fell out of love, or we've been hurt by someone, we tend to force ourselves to think that we hated them. But the truth is, we never could. The opposite of  LOVE is not HATE, it's APATHY. APATHY in other words are to ignore, to be indifferent, to not care. and when the other person ignore us, we hated them (or so we thought). They might ignore our feelings, ignore our intentions, or they might even ignore our existence completely. And since we thought about them so much, it hurts to know/realize they just DON'T CARE

And there's also times, when we tried to analyze things from outside of our feelings, we tend to realize that "hey, that person represents everything that I hate in a human being, but then, why do I love em this much?" my guess is, opposites attracts. We might think that we have no reason to like the person at all, but everytime they walk by you felt your heart skipped a beat. even when you're fighting, you were exceptionally happy. Just because they walk in the room, you feel your spirit soar. for a fact, you ABSOLUTELY ABHOR those qualities in a person, yet you felt POSITIVE ATTRACTION towards them.

And another kind of hate that we usually felt to someone, is just because. We have no romantic feelings towards them but we hated them, for no obvious reason. This is probably due to what we call 'projecting'. This happens when we hate someone, not because we hate them, but because something of them reminds us of the part of us that we hated the most. This, I notice had happened to me a few times before. I don't exactly hate the person, I just felt a little animosity towards them. When I analyze why do I feel a bit hostility towards the other person I realize, that's because they have this attitude of mine that I hated - and are constantly trying to improve. Looking at them just reminds me how ugly I am when I do such things, and thus I can only act cordially with them, but no more closer.

Thus, when I want to say I hate someone (whom I personally know) I would first analyze why. Usually when you think of it, it doesn't make sense. (Hating someone personally is a far cry from hating the act of cruelty, zionism, hitler, abortion, etc) And perhaps, you'd realize you don't hate them at all, and put your mind (and heart) at ease.

Just some (not-so-serious) thoughts from a brat with opinions

  1. the quote i know is, "the opposite of love is not hate, it's apathy" :) the verb "to ignore" and the noun "ignorance" carries different meaning :) if you look into a dictionary, "ignorance" cannot be employed the way you mean to.

and yes, i do agree that with that - apathy is the antithesis of love.

would have commented in the tudung post, but i fear it's not my place. sin is an alien concept to me, and i live by the precepts of empathy and free will, and the conviction that nothing is wrong if it does not hurt anybody.

  2. Thank you again, for correcting me. Yes I've checked. It IS different. and I can't use 'apathy' because if I do, I believe, many readers (though they won't admit it) will not understand the word. (like me). lols.

Thank you for reading the tudung post in the first place. We are all free to practice what we believe, right? I might not seem like it that much, but the roots of Islam is quite deep in me. And so, my opinion is based on what is taught to me and of what I know.

Thank you again, for commenting :)
